Meet our Recruitment Chairs!

Our names are Anne Douglas Hamiter and Addie Vinyard, and we have the honor of being the Recruitment Chairs for Chi Omega this year.  It has been such a blessing getting to prepare to welcome new faces into our chapter during Formal Fall Recruitment.  Our role is to serve and guide our chapter, work as a liaison between Panhellenic and our members, but most importantly to love and value each and every girl that walks through our doors during Recruitment!

We know Recruitment can feel overwhelming and maybe a little bit scary, but we are here to hopefully provide some encouragement and peace for you if you are coming through Recruitment this year.  We remember our experience as a potential new members and feeling all the nerves, but also being equally so excited.  Our heart behind this whole process is to serve as a light in such an unknown process.  If you are feeling all of the same things we were feeling, just know that Chi Omega wants to get to know YOU! We want to know what makes you special and unique, because each of you are.  Our advice to you is to just be undeniably yourself. Our deepest desire for Recruitment is just to connect with each of you in a real and honest way. We cannot express enough how honored we are that we have the privilege of meeting you.  Beginning with Recruitment, college is a time of transition and change, but we hope that you can feel at home in Chi Omega.

When we look around at the women in this chapter, we are filled with admiration and gratitude at who we get to surround ourselves with everyday.  These girls make us better, and push us to the fullest extent of our potential.  These women exemplify gentleness without weakness, strength without severity, and humility without the slightest lack of confidence.  Chi Omega will abundantly provide you with relationships that will refine you and teach you to live graciously and authentically.  College is a big adjustment, but our hope is that Chi Omega will not only enhance your years at Auburn, but be the best part about your time here as a student. We know it has been for us.

We are so eager to meet you!

XOXO,

Anne Douglas Hamiter + Addie Vinyard

Dear Potential New Members,

Name: Etta Snider

Hometown: Franklin, TN

Major: Interior Design

What I do as New Member Educator:

My name is Etta, and I am beyond excited and honored to serve as this year’s New Member Educator, or “Mama Hoot,” as we call it in Chi O! Essentially, my role is to guide the PC '25 class as they begin their official journey as Chi Omegas. From bid day through initiation, I am here to make sure our new members feel welcomed, valued, seen, heard, and loved just for being who they are within our chapter. I will be sharing Chi O’s history and values with them and hosting events that create opportunities for the new members to build lifelong friendships. Above all, I want to be a trusted resource they can turn to for anything they need. I’ll be their biggest cheerleader during the highs, and a supportive shoulder to lean on during the lows. My freshman year was full of excitement, but also challenges, and having my own Mama Hoot to support me and make me feel at home in Chi O meant the world. I, along with the rest of our chapter, am committed to offering that same love and support to PC '25. In Chi Omega, we truly value authentic friendships and strive to create an environment where you can be your true self!

What advice would you give to PNM’s coming through recruitment?:

It may sound cliché, but my biggest piece of advice is to simply be your authentic self throughout the entire process! Coming from out of state, I was nervous that I’d have to pretend to be someone I wasn’t to "fit in" with a sorority at Auburn. Looking back, that couldn’t have been further from the truth! During recruitment, it’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others, but each of you is uniquely made and created in the image of Christ. Being true to yourself during recruitment and sharing that with every chapter you visit is far more meaningful and important than the outfit you choose to wear. I learned that dropping that perfectionism I carried in the beginning, benefited not only myself but the person who I was talking to, allowing me to be present and find the good in each chapter. Walk into each room bringing the light that the Lord has given you because there is purpose in every single person you talk to. I can’t wait to meet each of you, and I truly hope you find a place in Chi O where you can be your genuine self—it’s such a privilege to get to know you for exactly who you are!

What am I most looking forward to about being the New Member Educator?

I am obviously so excited for Bid Day and all the things up until initiation, but the thing that keeps coming back to me is this excitement to even be in this position. Not everyone gets to be “Mama Hoot” and it is only a few months of my entire life. So with that, I’ve been praying that this season I would be present, humble, intentional, gracious, celebratory- all things I needed from a girl above me. I’m honored that I get to serve each of you and this chapter as a whole. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude not only for what I am going to learn but what you all are going to teach me. These are the relationships that I’m most excited for. Walks, drives, ice cream, nutrition teas, unloading, not talking at all, and everything in between- those moments with each of you is what I’m most excited for.

PC ‘24, I truly cannot wait to meet y’all. I know that moving into a new town, away from your family, and making new friends can be so scary and intimidating, but the Lord truly has placed y’all in Auburn for a reason! It is surreal to believe that I get to be in this position, but I am beyond excited to see how the Lord will use me during the season. But, most of all, I’m so eager to see how He will use each of y’all to show me, and our chapter, a glimpse of the infinite goodness of God. I am excited to love on, learn from, and lead PC ’24 through one of the most exciting times as they step into college and Chi Omega! I have been praying for y’all since November, and I can’t wait to meet and love on each of you SOON! See y’all in August!

Xoxo,

Etta Snider
